TalkRidge · Free private messenger

Private conversations. Nothing else.

TalkRidge is an end-to-end encrypted messenger with no phone number, no user directory and no ads. You add contacts by scanning each other’s QR code in person, everything you send is sealed on your device — and our servers only ever see ciphertext.

What TalkRidge is

A messenger that minds its own business

Everything you expect from a modern messenger — and none of the surveillance economics underneath it. No accounts to register, no data to monetise, nothing to leak.

Private messaging

Texts, voice notes, photos and files — end-to-end encrypted, one-to-one and in groups. Delivered through a relay that can read none of it.

Voice & video calls

Encrypted calls, one-to-one and in small groups, with the media flowing peer-to-peer between your devices wherever the networks allow.

QR-code pairing

No phone number, no directory. You add a contact by scanning each other’s code in person — the trust anchor is you, not a key server.

A server that knows nothing

The relay is a blind mailbox: it stores sealed envelopes it cannot open, and deletes them the moment they are delivered.

TalkRidge’s encryption is built exclusively from vetted, unmodified open-source cryptographic primitives, and the protocol design is documented openly. The applications have not yet undergone an independent external security audit — we say so plainly rather than borrow trust, and independent review is on the roadmap.

Inside the app

Everything a messenger needs. Nothing it doesn’t.

TalkRidge does the essentials properly instead of everything loudly — messaging, calls, groups and media, wrapped in encryption that is always on.

Chats that feel familiar

One-to-one and group conversations with forwarding, unread badges, swipe-to-mark-unread and delete-for-everyone — all end-to-end encrypted.

Calls that stay between you

Voice and video calls, plus small group calls — encrypted end to end, with the call keys exchanged over the same sealed channel as your messages.

Media & files

Photos, hold-to-record voice messages and file attachments, sealed with exactly the same encryption as your texts.

Content-free notifications

A push notification says “New message” — nothing else. Your words, names and pictures never transit a notification service.

Backup on your terms

Convenience mode keeps an encrypted backup only your keys can open; privacy mode keeps everything strictly on your device. You choose.

Groups without a server brain

Group membership and control messages are encrypted client-side and fanned out like any other message — the server never learns who is in a group.

Privacy

The best data protection is data that never exists

Most apps promise not to misuse what they collect. TalkRidge is built so there is almost nothing to collect in the first place.

No phone number

Your identity is a cryptographic keypair generated on your phone at first launch — no number, no email, no registration, nothing to link back to you.

No directory, no discovery

There is no search and no user list. Nobody can look you up, spam you, or scrape a social graph — strangers simply cannot reach you.

Sender identity stays sealed

Who a message is from lives inside the encryption, not on the envelope — designed so even our own relay learns as little as possible.

No ads, no trackers

No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no data sales. There is nothing in the app whose job is to watch you.

The protocol

Conservative cryptography, openly documented

TalkRidge composes vetted, unmodified open-source primitives into a hybrid post-quantum protocol — the custom work is in the composition, never inside a cipher.

End-to-end encryption on every message

X25519 + ML-KEM-768 hybrid key agreement

Double ratchet: forward secrecy & self-healing

XChaCha20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption

Ed25519 signed identities

QR key exchange — no key server to impersonate

Blind-mailbox relay, ciphertext only

Keys held in the iOS Keychain / Android Keystore

Vetted open-source primitives, unmodified

How it works

Two phones, two scans, nothing to sign up for

Pairing in person sounds old-fashioned — it is also the one key exchange no server, and no server breach, can ever tamper with.

Meet & scan

You and your contact scan each other’s QR codes — they carry only public keys. No number to exchange, no username to guess.

Verify the fingerprint

Both screens show the same short fingerprint. A quick glance confirms nobody swapped the codes — that moment is the entire trust model.

Talk freely

Messages are sealed on your phone, parked in a blind mailbox the server cannot read, and deleted from it the moment they are delivered.

For developers

Your servers can talk to it too, for free

TalkRidge accepts secure webhooks. An ordinary HTTP POST from your build server, your monitoring or your own product arrives as a message inside the app, on the phones that chose to receive it. No workspace to buy, no channel history sitting in the cloud.

One endpoint, one token

Post JSON with a bearer token. If it can run curl, it can reach your team: a cron job, a CI pipeline, an alerting rule, your own backend.

People subscribe by scanning

You join a bot the way you add a person: by scanning its code in the app. No invite link to leak, no member list for anyone to enumerate.

Receive only, by design

Bots push to you and cannot read back. An integration you added for alerts can never turn into a way in.

Zero plaintext

ever stored on our servers

Zero phone numbers

no identifiers to leak or sell

Zero ads or trackers

you are not the product

One job

private conversations, done properly

Not a data business

Built to protect conversations, not to collect them

Every design decision in TalkRidge starts from the same question: what happens if our servers are breached, subpoenaed or simply dishonest? The answer is designed to be “very little” — because your keys never leave your device, your contacts are yours, and the relay holds only sealed envelopes it cannot open.

No feature ships if it needs your data to work. That is a constraint — and it is the point. The app itself is free on both platforms: no subscription, no paid tier, no feature waiting behind a paywall.
